Pride and Prejudice Quotes

Pride and Prejudice Quotes The accompanying statements from Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen are the absolute most conspicuous lines in English writing. The epic, which follows the push-and-pull connection between Elizabeth Bennet and Fitzwilliam Darcy, manages topics of adoration, pride, social desires, and biased conclusions. In the statements that follow, well dissect how Austen passes on these topics with her trademark wry mind. Statements About Pride I could without much of a stretch pardon his pride, in the event that he had not humiliated mine. (Part 5) At the point when Elizabeth talks this statement, she’s new off Darcy’s slight of her at the primary ball, where she caught him making a decision about her not â€Å"handsome enough† for him to hit the dance floor with. In setting, where she and her family are talking about the ball with their neighbors, she hurls the line off in an amiable, joking kind of way. In any case, a closer read suggests some component of truth to it: as the story advances, it becomes obvious that this undesirable first gathering has shaded Elizabeth’s impression of Darcy, making her increasingly vulnerable to Wickham’s lies. This statement is additionally the start of a running example through the novel: Elizabeth and Darcy are each ready to recognize that they have a common blemish (Elizabeth recognizes a level of pride, Darcy concedes that his partialities are framed rapidly and unavoidably). The topic of pride frequently associates with a powerlessness to perceive one’s own imperfections, so despite the fact that the characters despite everything have far to go before they’ll arrive at a glad resolution, an affirmation of certain defects shows that this will be where that end is conceivable as opposed to a catastrophe where an unfortunate blemish will be acknowledged short of what was needed. Vanity and pride are various things, however the words are frequently utilized interchangeably. An individual might be glad without being vain. Pride relates more to our assessment of ourselves, vanity to what we would have others consider us. (Section 5) Mary Bennet, the center Bennet sister, is neither paltry like her more youthful sisters nor composed like her more established sisters. She’s contemplative to say the least and is very enamored with philosophizing and lecturing, as she does here, where she embeds herself into a discussion about Mr. Darcy’s conduct at the ball by seizing on their notice of his â€Å"pride† and hopping in with her way of thinking. It’s an away from of her absence of social aptitudes and her concurrent want to be remembered for society. Despite the fact that it’s conveyed in Mary’s lecturing, self important way, this statement isn't altogether false. Pride †and vanity †are focal topics to the story, and Mary’s definitions give perusers an approach to recognize the social vainglory of Miss Bingley or Lady Catherine and the swelled vainglorious of Mr. Collins from the pride of Mr. Darcy. Pride and Prejudice investigates individual pride as a hindrance to genuine comprehension and satisfaction, yet it additionally presents the proudest character †Darcy †as one who couldn't care less much what others consider him, confirm by his cool social conduct. The difference between care for discernments and care for interior qualities is investigated all through the novel. â€Å"But vanity, not love, has been my habit. Satisfied with the inclination of one, and affronted by the disregard of the other, on the absolute starting point of our associate, I have sought predisposition and obliviousness, and driven explanation away, where either were concerned. Till this second I never knew myself.† (Chapter 36) There is a term in traditional Greek show, anagnorisis, that alludes to a character’s abrupt acknowledgment of something up until now obscure or misjudged. It regularly associates some way or another to a move in discernment or relationship with an enemy. The statement above, spoken by Elizabeth to herself, is Elizabeth’s snapshot of anagnorisis, where she at last learns reality with regards to Darcy and Wickham’s shared past by means of Darcy’s letter to her, and in this way understands her own blemishes and missteps. Elizabeths snapshot of mindfulness and character turn demonstrates the artistic expertise at work here. Anagnorisis is something that shows up in complex works with traditional structures and multifaceted, imperfect saints; its quality is additional verification that Pride and Prejudice is a dexterous account, not just a parody of habits. In disasters, this is where a character goes to a genuinely necessary acknowledgment, yet learns their exercise past the point where it is possible to stop the awful occasions as of now moving. Since Austen is composing a satire, not a disaster, she permits Elizabeth to pick up this required disclosure while there’s still time to switch course and accomplish a glad consummation. Statements About Love â€Å"It is a fact generally recognized, that a solitary man possessing a favorable luck, must be in need of a wife.† (Chapter 1) This is one of the most popular opening lines in writing, up there with â€Å"Call me Ishmael† and â€Å"It was the best of times, it was the most exceedingly terrible of times.† Spoken by the omniscient storyteller, the line basically summarizes one of the key premises of the novel; the remainder of the story works under the supposition that the peruser and the characters the same offer this information. Despite the fact that the topics of Pride and Prejudice are unquestionably not restricted to marriage and cash, those do pose a potential threat. It is this conviction that drives Mrs. Bennet to push her little girls forward every step of the way, both towards commendable competitors, for example, Mr. Bingley and dishonorable ones, for example, Mr. Collins. Any single man with some fortune is a marriage up-and-comer, easy. There is a specific manner of expression significant here also: the expression â€Å"in need of.† Although it sounds, from the start, that it’s expressing a rich, single man consistently needs a spouse. While that’s valid, there’s another understanding. The expression â€Å"in need of† is additionally used to show a condition of lacking something. Along these lines, the other method to peruse it is that a rich, single man is inadequate with regards to one urgent thing: a spouse. This perusing accentuates the social desires put on the two people, as opposed to either. â€Å"You are too liberal to even think about trifling with me. In the event that your sentiments are still what they were last April, let me know so on the double. My expressions of love and wishes are unaltered; yet single word from you will quietness me regarding this matter for ever.†Ã‚ (Chapter 58) At the sentimental peak of the novel, Mr. Darcy conveys this line to Elizabeth. It comes after all has been uncovered among them, all mistaken assumptions cleared up and both in full information on what different has said and done. After Elizabeth expresses gratitude toward Darcy for his help to Lydia’s marriage, he admits that he did it just for Elizabeth’s purpose and in order to prove his actual nature to her. As a result of her sure gathering up until now, he makes an endeavor to propose to her again †yet this couldn't be more unique in relation to his first proposition. At the point when Darcy initially proposes to Elizabeth, it’s overlaid with a pompous †however not incorrect †evaluation of her societal position comparative with his. He utilizes language that â€Å"seems† sentimental (demanding that his affection is so extraordinary it conquered every single reasonable snag), however seems to be fantastically annoying. Here, be that as it may, he not just methodologies Elizabeth without pride and with authentic, unrehearsed language, yet he additionally accentuates his regard for her desires. As opposed to following the exemplary figure of speech of â€Å"pursue until you win her over,† he smoothly expresses that he will step away effortlessly if that’s what she needs. It’s a definitive articulation of his unselfish love, rather than his past conceited haughtiness and hyperawareness of economic wellbeing. Statements About Society â€Å"I proclaim after all there is no pleasure like perusing! How much sooner one feels worn out on anything than of a book! At the point when I have my very own place, I will be hopeless on the off chance that I have not a brilliant library.† (Chapter 11) This statement is spoken via Caroline Bingley, while she is breathing easy at Netherfield alongside her sibling, sister, brother by marriage, Mr. Darcy, and Elizabeth. The scene is, at any rate from her point of view, an inconspicuous rivalry among her and Elizabeth for Darcy’s consideration; she is, actually, mixed up, as Elizabeth has no enthusiasm for Darcy as of now and is just at Netherfield to watch out for her evil sister Jane. Miss Bingley’s discourse is a consistent stream of endeavors to get consideration from Darcy. While she’s rhapsodizing about the delights of perusing, she’s claiming to peruse a book that, as the harshly toned storyteller illuminates us, she just picked in light of the fact that it was the second volume of the book Darcy had decided to peruse. Regularly taken outside of any relevant connection to the issue at hand, this statement is an astounding case of the tenderly mocking diversion Austen frequently uses to make jokes about the social first class. Taking joy in perusing isn't senseless all by itself, yet Austen gives this line to a character who we know to be undependable, and mixes it by misrepresenting the announcement past any chance of truthfulness and making the speaker sound urgent and absurd. Individuals themselves change such a great amount of, that there is something new to be seen in them for ever. (Section 9) Elizabeth’s exchange is ordinarily clever and loaded down with double implications, and this statement is a distinct model. She conveys this line during a discussion with her mom, Mr. Darcy, and Mr. Bingley about the contrasts among nation and city society. She comments upon her get a kick out of watching individuals †which she means as a thorn at Mr. Darcy †and duplicates down with this q

Common Side Effects Signs of Use Myths and Common Questions Addiction and Withdrawal How to Get Help View All Back To Top Salvia divinorum is a fast-acting hallucinogenic herb thats become a popular recreational drug among teenagers and young adults. Although salvia isnt illegal according to federal law, a handful of states and a number of countries have passed laws to regulate its use. Still, its often called a legal trip because it can mimic the effects of illicit substances like LSD and ecstasy though salvias effects dont last as longâ€"usually around 8 minutesâ€"after which, they taper off. Despite its legal status, salvia has not been deemed safe. In fact, the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) lists salvia as a drug of concern that poses risk to people who use it. Also Known As: Salvia is also commonly called Magic Mint, Sally-D, Diviners Sage, Ska Maria Pastora, Seers Sage, Shepherdesss Herb, Lady Sally, Purple Sticky, and Incense Special. Drug Class: Salvia is classified as a hallucinogen. Common Side Effects: Side effects of the drug can include visual distortions and hallucinations, intense dissociation and disconnections from reality, disorientation or dizziness, synesthesia (“hearing” colors of “smelling sounds), cartoon-like imagery, improved mood, and uncontrollable laughter. How to Recognize Salvia Salvia is a perennial herb thats part of the mint family. Its commonly found in southern Mexico, Central America, and South America. The plant has large green leaves with white and purple flowers that typically grow in large clusters to more than three feet in height. Salvia can be sold as seeds, leaves, or as a liquid extract and, upon burning, many say the smell is similar to incense. What Does Salvia Do? The active ingredient in the salvia herb is salvinorin A, a chemical that acts on certain receptors in the brain and causes hallucinations. Only when enough salvinorin A is absorbed through the oral mucosa or the lungs and into the bloodstream can a psychoactive effect be produced. Some people compare smoking salvia to “flipping a switch”â€"in a moment, everything turns from normal to an altered sense of reality and self-awareness. People often describe it as a “20-minute acid trip,” which can begin less than a minute after smoking the herb. This short duration may be appealing to first-time users who are afraid of having a long trip that can last for hours. Salvia is said to change your “interoception,” or the experience of what’s going on in your body, as well as create feelings of disorientation and uncertainty about what’s real. Precisely how much salvia is needed to produce these effects varies depending on the person as well as leaf quality and potency. Many people who try salvia dont like it, describing the experience as intense, disturbing, and frighteningâ€"not fun or euphoric. What the Experts Say According to the Center for Substance Abuse Research, salvinorin A is the most potent naturally occurring hallucinogen. How salvia acts in the brain is still being studied, but we do know that salvinorin A changes the signaling process of nerve cells, or neurons, in the brain by attaching to nerve cell receptors called kappa opioid receptors. It also influences dopamine receptors in the brain. In the early 2000s, teenagers were recording themselves using salvia and posting videos online (some with 500,000 views on YouTube). Luckily, salvia has decreased in popularity among teenagers since then. The 2018 Monitoring the Future Study of eighth-, tenth-, and twelfth-graders showed that less than 1% of teens say they use salvia. Off-Label Uses Salvia has traditionally been used by shamans as a healing and divining tool (salvia divinorum translates to sage of the seers). According to Daniel Siebert, whos researched salvia for more than 20 years, the herb was used to induce a visionary trance state that made it possible for these healers to determine the underlying cause of disease and learn what steps to take to remedy it. At this time, there is no medical use for salvia. However, research is underway to investigate the use of salvinorin A in the treatment of dementia and Alzheimer’s disease as well as addiction. Common Side Effects Salvia has been reported to cause intense effects, including: Visual distortions and hallucinationsUncontrollable laughterIntense dissociation and disconnectedness from reality (being unable to tell the difference between whats real and whats not)Physical or visual impairmentDisorientation and dizzinessSynesthesia, in which physical sensations become intertwined and its possible to “hear” colors or “smell” soundsDysphoria, where users felt uncomfortable or unpleasant after the drugs use Many of these effects raise a concern about the dangers of driving under the influence of salvia. Additionally, any drug that leaves you incapacitated during the time its working increases the risk for serious injury in any capacity. Its not clear if there have been any deaths associated with salvia. The European Monitoring Center for Drugs and Drug Addiction notes that emergency reports have described lasting psychosis in vulnerable people. At least one suicide has been blamed on salvia. The long-term effects of using the drug also arent known. However, studies with animals showed that salvia can harm learning and memory. Signs of Use Since teens can access salvia easier than some other types of drugs, its important for parents to educate themselves and their kids on its potential danger. If you suspect drug use, pay attention to any behavioral changes (sleep and eating patterns), mood and personality shifts, hygiene and appearance problems, health issues (depression), or school concerns (missing classes, declining grades, loss of interest in hobbies/school events). Also, take note if your loved one is burning incense; which many say is similar to the smell of Magic Mint when smoked. Consider searching for any seeds, leaves, liquid extracts, or drug paraphernalia (such as bongs, pipes, or rolling papers). And dont overlook their digital devices, notes Partnership for Drug-Free Kids, which can contain frequent contacts, messages, or social media posts that indicate the use of salvia (once called TheYouTube drug). Myths and Common Questions Often, salvia is mistaken as a legal alternative to marijuana. But other than the fact that it is green, dried, and can be smoked, it has nothing in common with cannabis. People who smoke salvia will not experience a milder type of high than when smoking pot. Another myth is that salvia is linked to violent behavior, including suicide and murder. While acts of violence are possible, especially if the person has a history of violence, there is no evidence to support this link.   Tolerance, Dependence, and Withdrawal It’s not clear if using salvia leads to addiction. More research is needed to learn about its addictive properties as well as whether it is possible to build tolerance (needing more and more to get high) and experience symptoms of drug withdrawal. How Long Does Salvia Stay in Your System? How long salvia will remain in your body depends on several factors, including dosage, how often you use the drug, your age, weight, and metabolism, as well as your hydration and activity levels. Drug testing for salvia is uncommon and expensive. Addiction While more research is needed on the addiction potential of salvia, your risk may be higher if someone in your family is struggling with a substance use disorder and you are frequently tripping. Withdrawal More research is needed to determine if people who misuse salvia experience withdrawal symptoms when stopping abruptly. How to Get Help If you suspect that your teen is misusing salvia, do your best to spend some time together, watch for any signs of use, and talk openly about the potential dangers of the drug. While there are no FDA-approved drugs to treat salvia abuse, behavioral therapy such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) has been found effective for people misusing other dissociative drugs. Since there is still more research needed on tolerance and withdrawal, quitting cold turkey may not be your best bet. If someone is continually using a drug to escape from reality, they likely needs proper medical care to detox safely from the drug and to address any underlying mental health issues. If you find yourself needing to put your loved one into rehab, ask your healthcare provider for suggestions. The Partnership for Drug-Free Kids  also has a helpline and tips to ensure families find a reputable addiction treatment center.

Good Parenting Equals Good Karma - 879 Words

Good parenting and karma are very similar, for example; if you have good parenting then your children are more likely to live a safer and happier life. Teenagers are affected from parents through their actions and decisions towards them. When parents do not interact, care, or love their child, they will seek new ways to express their emotions. They can make decisions to smoke, use drugs, alcohol, drink and drive, have unprotected sex, and more. Most importantly, teenager’s decisions are influenced by rapid growth, peer pressure, and the environment they live in. Having a busy lifestyle and mixed emotions can lead to teenagers making rushed decisions without reflecting upon them. For example, teenagers develop fast and that can have a negative effect: â€Å"The teen years are a time of rapid growth, exploration, and risk taking. Taking risks provides young people the opportunity to test their skills and abilities and discover who they are. But, some risks—such as smokin g, using drugs, drinking and driving, and having unprotected sex—can have harmful and long-lasting effects on a teen’s health and well-being† (CDC 1). Usually teenagers have such busy lifestyles and they are growing and developing in a rapid pace. They can make risky decisions that they do not reflect upon because they are growing and have not fully matured. Teenagers want to explore new ideas and in that mindset they can end up making hasty choices. These choices which they make out of haste, impulsively can

In the play centre, I would do a food market shop and allow the kids add up different points. For illustration, A bag of murphy french friess cost a penny and if they brought two how much money would they necessitate? It will be easier for the kid to hold on instead than merely giving them a press release. Besides, insistent drill would be used to reenforce what was understood by ground. I would besides integrate in my schoolroom positive support. I would prom ote my pupils to dispute themselves on an mundane footing. Farnaz Lavianlivi Professor Garelick 11/16/09 Rabbi moses ben maimons Maimonides was born in Spain ( 1135-1204 ) . He did non desire to learn and acquire paid for it so he chose to go a physician. He respected and treated everyone every bit as a doctor. As for instruction he said that we should take high on our ends. He besides states that a lazy instructor is a dishonest instructor. He believed that motive besides plays a large function in acquiring pupils to larn. Maimonides brings a really of import affair in a schoolroom. The schoolrooms should non be overcrowded. He was the first philosopher to explicate that if there are more than 25 pupils at that place should be a instructor helper in the schoolroom. Students need individualised attending in a schoolroom. This to Maimonides was critical because pupils need to hold the instructor ‘s attending in order to win the schoolroom. This manner a pupil will experience of import and will be able to larn and derive more out of the lesson if the instructor is paying attending to each person. If the schoolroom is overcrowded non every individual pupil will acquire the attending they deserve. Maimonides thought that kids will larn when instructors use positive support. In add-on, in the schoolroom you may desire to hold spines or ice lollies for childs who participate in category as a good incentive to acquire pupils to take part. Rabbi moses ben maimons thought that the instruction of the organic structure and the psyche is really of import. He besides thought that the pedagogue needs to be knowing and moral. I believe that a instructor does necessitate the cognition and ethical motives to learn. She/ he needs to be ready and cognize the reply to their pupil ‘s inquiries. Maimonides thought that kids need to socialise and larn. Integrating Maimonides thoughts on instruction, I would make more group work so my pupils will be able to larn and turn from each other. Baroque vs Classical free essay sample

Baroque vs. Classical Music form the period of approximately 1600-1750 Is usually referred to as baroque. This was a time when the doctrine of the divine right of kings ensured the absolute rule of God-chosen monarchs. During this time, Louis XIV became the most powerful and praised monarch in all of European history. Discoveries in science stimulated both technology and philosophy. People began to think about ordinary matters in a new way, affected by the newly acquired habits of scientific experimentation and proof. The mental climate stimulated by science significantly affected the art and the music we call Baroque.Science Is at work In even the most flamboyant and dazzling of Baroque artistic efforts. There was a dual influence of extravagance and scientist, of the splendid and the schematic, that is found in Baroque art and music. Bach and Handel were both of the Baroque period. In the second part of the eighteenth century, the classical style emerged in Europe, principally In Vienna, Austria. We will write a custom essay sample on Baroque vs Classical or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page Joseph II, an enlightened ruler, emancipated the peasantry, furthered education, and reduced the power of the clergy; he supported music and literature with his patronage and encouraged a free press. Joseph II derived his principles of governance from an important intellectual movement of the eighteenth century known as the Enlightenment, a movement that also helped define the music that flourished under his reign. The original source of the Enlightenment was the faith in reason that led to the great scientific discoveries of the Baroque period. Then the emphasis went away from the purely intellectual and scientific toward the social sphere. People were less Intent on controlling natural forces by science than on turning these forces to universal benefit.People also began to apply he same intelligence that solved scientific problems to problems of public morality, education, and politics. Music during this period was meant to please and entertain rather than to instruct, impress, or even express, as had been the case In the Baroque period. Mozart, Haydn, and Beethoven were composers of the Classical period. The main musical vehicle of the Baroque period was the opera. Opera Is an expensive entertainment In which a drama Is presented with music and elaborate stage spectacle. Comic opera, or opera buff, became the most progressive operatic form of the later part of the century. One central characteristic of the music of the late Baroque period is its thorough, methodical quality. Baroque composers preferred thoroughness and homogeneity. The main concepts of Classical music are natural and pleasing variety. The variety was used as a guard against boredom, but It was also used to Invite complexity, and complexity seemed to be the opposite of natural simplicity and clarity. The most prominent change In music between Baroque and Classical periods may have come in rhythm. Baroque music is brimming with energy, and this energy is channeled into a highly regular, determined sort of motion.Baroque music gets its rhythmic vitality by playing off distinctive rhythms against a very steady beat. The meter always stands out, emphasized by certain Instruments plying In a clear, incisive way, usually the moves in absolutely even notes, usually eighths or quarters. Baroque music also tends to have a steady harmonic rhythm, that is it tends to change chords at every measure, every beat, or at some other set interval. In this area in the Classical period the artistic ideal of pleasing variety was supreme. The unvarying rhythms of Baroque music were considered dreary, obvious, and boring. Baroque musics dynamics were steady as well. Once a dynamic was chosen or set, it remained at about the same level for the whole section, or sometimes, whole composition. In the Classical period, variety and flexibility were also introduced into dynamics. There are distinctive and attractive Baroque sounds such as the harpsichord, the bright Baroque organ, the recorder, and high trumpets and drums in the festive Baroque orchestra. The Classical orchestra was setup much like the Baroque orchestra, however woodwinds and brass were given clearly defined regular roles. These instruments provided pleasing variety by playing certain melodies and other passages in their own characteristic tone color. Baroque melody tends toward complexity, while Classical melody demand was for simplicity and clarity, a relief form the complex, richly ornamented lines of the Baroque period. The people Anted natural melodies. The texture of Baroque music is polyphonic, and the texture of Classical music is homophobic. There are some similarities between the arouse and the Classical period, but the Classical period took what they wanted from the Baroque period and then added new things.

Negotiation Techniques and Third-Party Intervention free essay sample

Negotiation Techniques and Third-Party Intervention Some of the techniques that can be used to lessen a persons reluctance In order to avoid the need for a third party to intervene and manage negotiations are: not negotiating or postponing negotiations until there Is an Indication that there Is something to gain that may not be possible to be gained through other alternatives. Reluctance is at times considered reversed psychology and it is recommended not to fall victim of this trap, one must prepare well and take comfort, and not appear to be anxious in the face of your counterpart _ These techniques are consistent with the estimation process in the sense that if the other persons attitude does not change to coincide with yours, negotiations should be terminated, by simply refusing to negotiate In the style dictated by the other side. Negotiations can be terminated completely or postponed, with the condition author requirements regarding approach or process will be met. We will write a custom essay sample on Negotiation Techniques and Third-Party Intervention or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page Sing these techniques and knowing your alternatives during the negotiation process can pay off big. Considering the event of this situation, I would let the other company know of my concerns regarding the tone, and attitude of reluctance from a member of their team. If the matter if not corrected within reasonable time, I would postpone negotiations for a later date (If time permits) while also designating the location for the meeting and provide the conditions regarding the current Issues. If by then the persons attitude still does not coincide with mine, I wall analyze how Important cleaving this goal Is and It there are any other alternatives to gain the desired results. Depending on the outcome of the analysis I can then decide to accept the changes without involving a third party or refuse to negotiate until requirements are met. If the attitude of reluctance changes o a more cooperative attitude, negotiations can proceed, while still maintaining a close eye on the person that was previously reluctant. There is a high possibility that the person, who earlier displayed an unacceptable attitude, can now view the solution as a contest. Therefore, one must have to control responses to the various intimidating and manipulative tactics that may be used against you. In such case, a concentrated effort should be made to use counter tactics designed to emphasize that you have what the company needs . Lastly, it should be confirmed at the outset hat the goal is for a complete agreement and that each issue or solution is tentative until the entire matter is addressed and agreed upon.

Why You Shouldnt Mix Bleach With Ammonia

Why You Shouldn't Mix Bleach With Ammonia The chemical reactions involved in mixing bleach and ammonia produce extremely dangerous toxic vapors. Thus, its important to understand some first aid advice in case youre accidentally exposed to a bleach and ammonia mixture. Noxious Fumes and Poisonous Reactions The primary toxic chemical formed by this reaction is chloramine vapor, which has the potential to form hydrazine. Chloramines are a group of related compounds well-known to be respiratory irritants. In addition to respiratory irritation, hydrazine can also cause edema, headache, nausea, and seizures. Mixing bleach and ammonia also produces chlorine gas, which has been used as a chemical weapon. Two common ways to accidentally mix these chemicals include: Mixing cleaning products (generally a bad idea)Using chlorine bleach to disinfect water that contains organic matter (i.e., pond water) Chemicals Produced Note that each of these chemicals but water and salt is toxic: NH3 ammoniaHCl hydrochloric acidNaOCl sodium hypochlorite (bleach)Cl chlorineCl2 chlorine gasNH2Cl chloramineN2H4 hydrazineNaCl sodium chloride or saltH2O water Likely Chemical Reactions Bleach decomposes to form hydrochloric acid, which reacts with ammonia to form toxic chloramine fumes. First, hydrochloric acid forms. NaOCl → NaOH HOCl HOCl → HCl O Next, the ammonia and chlorine gas react to form chloramine, which is released as a vapor. NaOCl 2HCl → Cl2 NaCl H2O 2NH3 Cl2 → 2NH2Cl If ammonia is present in excess (which it may or may not be, depending on your mixture), toxic and potentially explosive liquid hydrazine may form. While impure hydrazine tends not to explode, it does have the potential to boil and spray hot, chemically toxic liquid. 2NH3 NaOCl → N2H4 NaCl H2O First Aid When Exposed If you become exposed to fumes from mixing bleach and ammonia, immediately remove yourself from the area to fresh air and seek emergency medical attention. While the vapors may attack your eyes and mucous membranes, the biggest threat derives from inhaling the gases. Get away from the site where the chemicals were mixed. You cant call for help if you are overwhelmed by the fumes.Call 911 for emergency help. If you feel that 911 is unwarranted, call Poison Control at 1-800-222-1222 for advice on handling the effects of exposure and chemical cleanup. If you find someone unconscious who you believe is suffering from inhalation of bleach/ammonia compound, try to remove the person to fresh air, preferably outdoors. Call 911 for emergency assistance. Do not hang up until instructed to do so.Seek proper cleanup and disposal instructions from Poison Control. Such a mistake is most likely to be made in a bathroom or kitchen, so thoroughly ventilate the area before returning to dispose of the compound and start cleanup.

Discuss the skills needed to develop into a successful university Essay

Discuss the skills needed to develop into a successful university student - Essay Example In the age of information technology a student should develop skills in web based learning for better academic performances. Academic skills like effective communication, effective perception, effective presentation and desirable writing and problem solving are essential factors in university level. Unlike school education, university education provides new instructional strategies and learning environment for students. Therefore, effective communication and perception contribute better academic results and professional success. Tom burns and Sandra Sinfields made some relevant studies in the field of skills needed for a university student. They remark; â€Å"In order to help you develop successful assessment techniques, we devote a whole long section to effective communication where we look at essays, reports, presentations and seminars and other assessment engines† (Burns, Sinfield, 2008, p.18). It is significant to mention that leadership quality and problem solving ability have close association with effective communication skills. Generally, academic skills offered a new insight and energy for a student’s academic qualities for managing new atmosphere. Self- discipline is an essential skill for a successful university student and it helps the students to manage time. Ability in critical thinking is another significant skill that needed to develop in to a successful university student. Sophia Scott and Doug Koch argue that â€Å"Government, business, vocational, and technology education leaders have increasingly called for more emphasis in the classroom on higher order thinking† (Scott, Koch, 2010). In addition, one can see that critical thinking is essential for a university student in forming a socially acceptable behaviour. One has the responsibility to act as a good citizen for that nation. So skills of critical thinking and analysis prevent one in all kinds of illegal activities. Self-discipline and

Accounting For Organisations Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1500 words

Accounting For Organisations - Essay Example Sales or revenues are generated when a company sells a product or service. The revenue recognition principle dictates that revenue be recognized in the accounting period in which is earned (Accoutingtools, 2015). Two of the major expenses categories within the income statement are cost of goods sold and operating expenses. The figure at the bottom of the income statement is the net income or net loss of the company during an accounting period. The balance sheet is a statement that shows the financial position of a company at a specific point in time. The balance sheet follows the logic of the basic accounting equation. The basic accounting equation states that assets equal liabilities plus stockholders equity (Misscpa, 2011). The three major sections of the balance sheet are assets, liabilities, and equity. The preparation of the balance sheet must follow the historic cost principle. Historical cost is a measure of  value used  in accounting  in which  the price of an asset  on  the balance sheet is based on its  nominal or original cost when acquired by the company (Investopedia, 2015). Assets in the balance sheet are subdivided into four subcategories: Some examples of assets included in the balance sheet are cash, inventory, account receivables, short term investments, prepaid expenses, office equipment, and goodwill (Weygandt, Kieso, Kimmel, 2002). The liabilities section of the balance sheet is divided into current liabilities and long term liabilities. Current liabilities are liabilities that expire in less than one year. A few of the current liabilities included in the balance sheet are notes payables, account payable, current maturities of long-term obligations, unearned revenue, salaries and wages payable, taxes payable, and other current liabilities. A list of potential long-term liabilities are bank notes payable, mortgage payable, bonds payable, and other long term

Structural Components Of Suspension Bridge Engineering Essay

Structural Components Of Suspension Bridge Engineering Essay INTRODUCTION Suspension bridge is a type of bridge in which the road way or the deck is suspended below the suspension cables. It is a simplest form of bridge which was made of rope and wood in olden days. The modern Suspension bridge developed was in 19th century. In those bridges the cables are carried by using vertical suspender. The two ends of the cables are suspended on towers. The weight of the bridge is transferred to the anchorage system by cables. The anchorage is fixed firmly on concrete blocks or solid rocks .In order to distribute the load evenly and also to protect the cables from breaking, the cables are spread over a large area inside the anchorage. Historical Background In early times human beings found it very difficult to cross the stream and a deep gorge to survive. A successful solution found out by early people was to drop a tree between the two banks of the deep flowing stream. This results in the idea of simple beam bridge in early times. Early bridges were made of post and lintel structures, stones or timber or the combination of the both. Later on the use of bamboo or simple rope gave rise to the development of rope suspension bridge. Central and South America and are the first to use rope suspension bridge. stock-photo-rope-bridge-suspension-bridge-35093119.jpg Figure:1 ROPE SUSPENSION BRIDGE Later on the chain cables were developed when the wrought iron bars became locally available. The first bridge constructed using chain cables were James Finleyà ¢Ãƒ ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¡Ã‚ ¬Ãƒ ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¾Ã‚ ¢s in Westmoreland country, Pennsylvania in 1801.In early British chain bridges the notable one was Menai bridge with 176m span. One of the longest parbolic arc chain was Clifton Suspension bridge. menai-bridge.jpg Figure :2 MENAI BRIDGE clifton-suspension-bridge-bristol-gben440.jpg Figure:3 CLIFTON SUSPENSION BRIDGE After the chain cable the wire-cable was developed. Foot à ¢Ãƒ ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¡Ã‚ ¬bridge at falls of Schuylkill was the first wire-cable suspension cable developed in 1861.The first major bridge constructed using modern methods was Joseph Chaley Grand Pont Suspendu across in Fribourg across the Sarine valley .Its construction was completed in 1834.The first major wire-cable in USA was the Wire à ¢Ãƒ ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¡Ã‚ ¬bridge at Fairmount in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania, span of 109m and the construction was completed during 1842. A notable bridge was Niagara bridge with250m span in 1855.Later on the American Engineers was constructing Suspension Bridge with higher span length. The notable one among them was are Ambassadar bridge in Detroit with 564m span in 1927, George Washington Bridge in New York with 1006m span in 1931 and Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco in 1937.Among the parallel wire cables the Otto Beit bridge outside USA was the first Suspension bridge constructed with modern techniqu es. golden_gate.jpg Figure :4 GOLDEN GATE BRIDGE STRUCTURAL COMPONENTS OF SUSPENSION BRIDGE Figure 5 Structural Components of Suspension bridge The above figure shows the structural components of a three span Suspension bridge. The different parts of a suspension bridge are Main Cables which support the deck and transfer the loadings to the supporting tower and anchorages. Deck suspended from the main cables. Towers to support the main cables. Hangers which is used to connect main cables and deck Anchorages to which the ends of the main cables are connected to protect it against any movements. 1. CABLES The main function of cables is to support the deck which carries the traffic loadings and to transfer these traffic loadings to the towers and anchorages by direct tension forces. Cables are made of high strength steel wires. The tensile strength of the wire is 1550N/mm2. The cables of the Akashi Kaikyo bridge in Japan is made of wires having high strength with minimum tensile strength of 1800 N/mm2.The steel rods from which the wires are manufactured are having higher carbon content. The wire with high tensile strength is obtained by cold drawing the wire. After the final drawing the wire is galvanized for corrosion protection. 301678.jpg Figure 6 AKASHI KAIKYO BRIDGE Different types of cables a.Spiral Bridge Strands Spiral bridge strands are manufactured by winding several layer of round steel wires in a helical shape onto a straight centre core wire. When layers of wire are laid it should be made sure that an opposite helix to the preceding layer should be laid. Due to twisting of wires spiral strands gets self-compacted under axial loading. As a result of this when the strand is first loaded, non elastic stretch occurs. So in order that the strand should behave elastically, the twisting of wire should be avoided during manufacture. Examples of bridges that have used spiral bridge strand are Tancarville bridge (france) with span length 608m, Cable size is 56no, Diameter of strand is 72mm.Constuction was completed during 1959 Lillebaelt bridge (Denmark) with span length 600m, Cable size 55no, Diameter of strand is 68.7mm and 6no 41.4mm diameter strands. Construction was completed during 1969. Figure 7 Spiral bridge Strand b.Locked Coil Strand Locked coil strands is manufactured in the same way as the spiral strands is manufactured. The only difference between the two is that in locked coil strand the final layer of wires are made up of interlocking Z-shaped wires. As a result of this proportion of the cross sectional area of strand to wire area increases, also a smooth exterior surface is obtained .Examples of bridges that have used Locked coil strands are Tamar bridge (UK) with span length 335m cable size 31no, Diameter of strand is 60mm.Construction was completed during 1961. Rodenkirchan bridge (Germany) with span length 378m, Cable size 37no, Diameter of strand is 69mm.Construction was completed during 1954. Askay bridge (Norway) with span length 850m, Cables size 21no, Diameter of strand is 99mm.Construction is completed during 1993. There are two types of arrangements that can be provided for spiral strands and locked coil strands. One of them is close packed hexagonal formation which has the advantage that the cross-section can be circularized when aluminium or plastic spacer are added and then wrapped properly against corrosion. The other one is an open rectangular array which is rarely used and doesnot have any wrapping operation as in closed packed hexagonal formation. The cable bands are simple fabricated structure. The disadvantage of open rectangular array is that on increasing wind load on the cable it is difficult to conduct inspection and maintenance on the inner strands. c. Parallel wire cable In parallel wire cables, several individual wire over the whole cable length is laid straight and parallel. It is constructed in two ways, by aerial insitu spinning of the wires or by prefabricated parallel wire strands. Insitu span cables : The aerial spinning method was developed during the 19th century and it was mostly used in long span suspension bridge. In this method using the spinning wheel two or four loops of wire are pulled from one anchorage to the other. During each movement of the wheel, required sag is provided to the wire and the cables are assembled. Prefabricated parallel wire bands: In prefabricated parallel wire strands bundles of wires are bound together by keeping plastic tapes at intervals and are prefabricated into hexagonal shaped strands. At each end sockets are fitted. The Akashi kaikyo bridge was the first bridge to use the longest prefabricated parallel wire strands with 127 wire strands, with average strand length of 4073m. 2. DECK The main function of deck is to support the load. The deck is suspended on the main cables by using vertical hangers. The most important load that the deck has to carry is the traffic loadings. The self weight of deck should be low because the deck is carried by the cables. Stiffening girders should be provided in the deck to transfer the loads from the deck to hanger. 3.TOWERS The main function of tower is to support the main cable. The ends of the main cable is connected to the tower which at a sufficient height to provide cable sag. Tower also support the stiffening girder and side span. The initial loadings on the tower will be the vertical load acting at the top of the tower, applied by the main cables, together with the loads acting on cable and bridge deck due to wind load and load acting on stiffening girder. Flexible fixed base are provided for the tower and cable saddles are fixed on the top of the tower. Due to this type of arrangement any movement in the cable saddle due to varying load will result in the longitudinal bending of the tower legs 4.HANGERS The main function of hangers is to connect the bridge deck and stiffening girder to the main cables .Vertical hangers are used with equal intervals along the span. Based on using one or two parts of rope, there are two types of hangers. Two part hangers Two part hanger was used in long span suspension bridges. In this type of hanger the arrangement is in such way that over the main cables the hanger is drapped which is located in the groove of corresponding cable band. Using sockets the bottom ends of the two rope of the hanger are connected to the deck. Hangers are usually made of steel wire rope Single part hangers Single part hangers ends on the underneath of the cable and it is connected to the lower part of the corresponding cable band by a socket and pin connections. The lower end of the hanger is connected to the deck using simple bearing socket. This type of hanger is made up of spiral strand or parallel wires 5.ANCHORAGES The main function of anchorage is to support the ends of the main cable and to prevents any movements in the main cable by transferring the force from the main cable to the ground. Since the anchorage has to resist a large force the design of anchorages is very tough unless the ground on which the anchorage is to be positioned is good and also if sound rock is available in the ground. Avantages and Disadvantages of Suspension bridges Avantages 1.When compared to other bridges, higher spans can be provided for the main span in suspension bridge. 2. Construction cost can be reduced in Suspension bridge due to less material used when compared to other bridges 3. No access is required below during construction of suspension bridge when compared to other bridges. Only for the installation of initial temporary cables the access is required. 4.Suspension bridge can prevent earthquake movements than other bridges. 5. Suspension bridge can be constructed at heights above the waterways to allow the passage of tall ships. Disadvantage Bridge deck vibrating due to heavy wind is prevented using aerodynamic profiling. The deck stiffness of suspension bridge when compared to other bridges is very low. Due to this it makes the bridge very difficult to carry heavy rail traffic. The foundation work is costly and requires more area to combat the effect of heavy load on foundation towers ,when Suspension bridge is constructed on soft ground. NON LINEAR ANALYSIS OF SUSPENSION BRIDGE Suspension bridges was considered as the most efficient and remarkable in architectural appearance when compared to other structural systems. But suspension bridge has more tendency to get deformed due to the asymmetrical loadings. This kind of displacement is called as kinematical diaplacements. There are many ways to reduce the kinematical displacements in suspension bridges. One of the method is, if flexible cables are used in suspension bridges the local bending stiffness is taken into account while analyzing the stress-strain state. Other method to reduce kinematical displacement is to use rigid cables instead of flexible cables. Standard hot rolled or welded sections are used to make the structural elements. Also by using rigid cables it provides the required stiffness for the suspension bridge. The technique is not accurate but can be used or rough calculation. For analysing the suspension bridge made of flexible cables or rigid cables there are some numerical methods. The analysis of suspension bridge made of flexible cable is very difficult when the non-linear behavior is concerned. So it is analyzed based on the assumption that the main cables are made of flexible cables ,when only dead load is acting on the bridge its shape is parabola, all other structural elements are made of ideally elastic material, through out the span of the bridge the bending stiffness of the girder is assumed to be constant, the displacements in the hanger is neglected and the load acting on the cable is considered to be uniform. The loading is in such a way that dead load acts on the cable, the stiffening girder and cable supports the live load. By using these assumption the non-linear analysis is done using certain equations. But while analysisng suspension cables with rigid cables these assumptions are not applicable. In rigid cables there is always some bendi ng stiffness. Also the cables are made up of standard welded or steel sections for the suspension bridge to be initially a stabilized. Grigorjevaet al. (2006) proposed a technique for the analysis of suspension bridge with rigid cables. CASE STUDY Dynamic Response of the Suspension Span of the SAN FRANSICO-OAKLAND BAY BRIDGE The dynamic seismic analysis of the suspension span of San Fransico-Oakland bay bridge was modelled to make astudy on the effects on suspension bridge due to ground motions. Due to the combined effect of motions due to tectonic displacements and seismic waves ,ground motions are developed near-fault regions for along period. In olden days the seismic design codes for the structures were used based on the past experiences and the historical ground motion instrument and signal processing methods were not accurate. So it was very difficult to measure the ground motions. But the development of Modern broad-band, digital instruments helped in measuring the near-fault motions. The effect of long period motion is different for flexible and rigid structures. Rigid bodies will have a natural frequency higher than 0.2Hz and for longer wavelength seismic waves it behaves as a rigid body. But for flexible bodies the natural frequency will be low. Using a finite-element modeling software the structure is modeled. The deck model is a combination of truss, membrane and sway stiffness elements. The steel braced tower is represented by fibre bending elements and the bridge cable is represented by tension-only cable element. The advantage of modelling the structure in this way helps to reduce the degree of freedom which is an essential aspect in the repose of suspension bridge. After the gravity initialization is completed as described in detil by McCallen and Astaneh,2000 ,the explicit integration scheme for non-linear analysis of earthquake motion is done. The ground motions in the near by areas will be affected by various reasons like the superposition of seismic waves, site geological response etc. The effect of these parameters may vary for different ruptures happening in future and these rupture may cause changes displacement in ground, velocities and accelarations. In this study the effect of rupture and wave propagation were studied by providing a parallel and finite difference in computational simulation of the rupture,a three dimensional finite difference calculation, empirical Green function and at seven points in San Fransico-Oakland Bay Bridge the ground motion is computed. By doing the above said it was found out that the far field in the near source can result in fault with periods of 0.2 to 0.5s due to directivity effects and the near field arrivals can result in fault with periods of 0.2 to 0.1 s due to tectonic movements. There are chances for these long period arrivals to accur along with the future earthquakes along the Hayward or San Andreas faults which is nearby San Franciso-Oakland bay Bridge and it will affect the long span bridges in San Fransico bridge. Along the Hayward fault ,five locations along the suspension span of western San Fransico two rupture model were synthesized for a ground motion of Mw =7.25.These were consid ered as mean and other one as standard deviation models. They were represented as HAY06 and HAY31.The ground displacements at the bridge generated was greater for the mean fault than the standard deviation but the standard deviation produced more acceleration and long durations.Analysis of the model has shown that the mean model produced more stress than the standard deviation. The response of Bay bridge is computed against the ground motion from the rupture model HAY06.Due to this displacements occur which indicates that the flexible deck cannot respond as fast as the towers when large displacement occurs. The tower motion lags and then the deck starts to respond when the tower returns with the ground.

Should Public Schools Require Student Uniform?

A school uniform is a specific design for clothing designated to be worn while attending academic classes at a school. The school context comprises grades one through twelve of public and private schools in the United States. Different schools and different grades within schools may have different uniforms, as determined by parents and school administration. In today’s society all public schools should require student uniform. These generations of school kids are more worried about how your hair looks, what name brand clothes you have on, and also what kind of shoes are on your feet. These kids are worried about all the wrong things. Instead of worrying about their peer’s attire they should be into their books. Worrying about all the wrong things can be distracting. When ones focus is on something other than what’s important can cause sidetracking. â€Å"We are under no illusions that it's a silver bullet that is going to make kids smarter,† school board Pr esident Pedro A. Ramos said last week. â€Å"We do think it will improve school climate. It removes a lot of anxiety and stress from lives of our students and parents,† (Johnston). To understand why this is an issue, let us look at the problem, why the problem is significant, whom the problem affects, why others’ attempts have failed, and how I propose to solve the problem. This is an everlasting debate that whether school uniforms should be worn or casual clothing is as good. And like most of the popular debate in the world it has no concrete answer, it totally depends on a person’s beliefs actually. For some it is a benefit for others a disadvantage. I believe public schools should require students to wear uniforms.First wearing school uniforms promotes good discipline. Second it reduces distractions. Thirdly it is a far less expensive to buy school uniforms than many other clothes. The problem is that public schools should require student uniform. Having all s tudents wear uniform causes the students to focus more on school and not each other. In today’s generation, requiring uniforms would take a lot of the pettiness and bullying over fashions and brands out of the schools. Today in most schools kids spend most of their time judging others by their attire rather than personality.Worrying about other things such as what everyone else is wearing takes attention off of learning and turns it onto attire. Is students paid less attention on what others were wearing and focus on school they would do much better in school. Most times when kids look down on other kids about their clothing it is a sign of bullying. Bullying starts when one person messes with another because they think they’re superior to the other person. It can also start by cliques forming and one clique talking about another clique’s apparel. Gang-related issues are pretty prevalent as a reason for using dress codes,† which often prohibit caps, earrin gs for boys, beepers, baggy clothes, and other gang-linked paraphernalia, says Jay Butler of the NSBA. School districts generally have found the codes â€Å"effective,† though not a cure-all, he said (Tyson). Students are affected by the schools wanting them to wear uniform. They are affected because what students wear is a sign of their own identity and individuality. Allowing students to wear what they want allows them to express how they feel not only through their character but the way they dress. Many students feel as though taking away the ability for them to wear what they want will not stop violence, failed grades, and also bullying. Most teachers and parents believe that when students wear uniform they don’t have to worry about appropriate versus inappropriate clothing. Also, fighting in the morning about what they can and can’t wear to school. According to at Brunsma at â€Å"The Journal of Education Research† and Rockquemore of University of Not re Dame, such creative hindrance encourages a power dynamic among students and faculty: If students feel inferior to faculty, they may also feel unsupported. This dynamic can impede their ability to focus in school, which can lead to behavioral issues (Foster). But in most schools that don't require uniforms, it is common for a teen or preteen student to feel pressure to wear trendy clothing lest she/he be viewed as economically disadvantaged or different. This is a big controversy between students and adults also between adults and adults. Having school uniforms in public schools is very important. Many people may ignore the signs that school uniform is a big issue in today’s schools, but others understand the need for these uniforms. One big problem is that when you give kids the ability to wear what they want that gives them a chance for freedom of expression. School uniforms stifle self -expression, and the development of the self is as integral as the development of the mi nd. Experts believe that there is no stopping self -expression in the psychological development of children and teenagers, and that more inappropriate means of expression will arise if clothing is restricted (Directory of Schools). To eliminate the use of derogatory clothing between young public school kids uniform should be rewarded.Having uniform will lower the parents having to fight with the child every morning with what they can and cannot wear to school. People that have attempted to try to get public schools to enforce school uniforms have failed in many different ways. They have failed because many people believe that just giving children uniforms will not stop them from bullying. Children bully others on the way they look such as the way other’s hair look, what type of sneakers they have on, and their classification. If school codes are already hard to enforce why they should put another problem on the staff’s hands. Sharp decreases in school crime reported by some districts that switched to uniforms have encouraged others to â€Å"follow suit. † In one prominent example, after Long Beach, Calif. , became the nation's first district to require uniforms at elementary and middle schools in 1994, crime dropped 36 percent among the 60,000 students (Tyson). Many people have so many different beliefs when it comes to school uniform.I propose to solve this problem by obtaining a survey. I will have two different surveys. I will survey 100 public school children and 100 parents. I will ask everyone the same question. I will ask public school students do they believe uniforms are the best thing for the students. Why? Before I give the survey I will collect information online about why public schools should enforce the use of uniforms. I will then give them the information I found about or why public schools take on the effort to have student uniforms. After that I would tell them my position on the public school uniforms conflict and that I like the idea. Finally, when all the data is collected from the survey I will tally the votes up and give them to the School Board of Education. In conclusion, because of the bullying that goes on with non-school uniforms, public schools should have school uniforms. Public school uniforms are very important and critical because there will not be a differentiation between rich or poor. Like for girls whose shirts are cut lower, or if a boy wears those checkered shorts that they seem to love so much. But with uniforms all of that is taken away because everyone will be wearing the same thing. I know your first questions will be: â€Å"But where's the individuality? † But it can still be there. Kids who roll their sleeves up or fold their collars differently, or who tuck their shirts in or leave them out. There are a LOT of factors to keep in mind. So just to talk about a child individuality and to not protect the other kids that can get emotionally, mentally, and physically damag ed by just one word because of what regular clothes they have on is unacceptable.

Do you agree ? Explain your opinion with relevant examples.† In today's technologically developed world, the computer is no longer a luxury, but a staple of everyday life. In personal, professional and academic spheres reliance on the computer is inevitable. Although, some would say that use of a computer at an early age has detrimental effects, I content that its benefits outweigh its risks. The current education system places a great amount of mental pressure on students. Including computer and internet with the studies may make the curriculum  more interactive and interesting. Learning vast syllabus and diverse topics in different areas can often force a student to opt for rote learning without putting stress on their brain, such a method further leads to strait-jacket a child's cognitive skills. In contrast, use of computers and internet for exploring such topics will help them in achieving an in-depth knowledge and understanding from their roots. It can further stemmed to make them a good abstract thinker. It is also worthy to galvanize the use of computer during children's leisure time. There are a galore of   strategy related computer games available in the market. Playing such skill games is a good way of increa sing one's concentration level, boosting self-confidence and improving the one's thinking capability. In today's job market, every single openings comes up with a requirement of mandatory computer knowledge with hands-on training, on the rudiments of computer skills.Having children explored exposed to such skills at an early age would ironically â€Å"ironically† is wrong here prepare them for more profession career. On the other hand, one must not ignore the detrimental effects on health of using computers continuously for extended time periods. Guidance by parents and elders is a must for a child – especially to supervise if â€Å"verify that† sounds better   they are not addicted to any tantalizing, restricted websites that contains in-decenand violent materials. To sum up, I would concede that computer use at an early age is of pinnacle importances and its disadvantages can be easily curbed with proper guidance and constant supervision.Using a computer eve ry day can have more negative than positive effects on children. Do you agree or disagree? Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience. In today's modern world, computers are an essential part of everyday life. Around the globe, children often use computers from a very  young age. Although it is important for children to participate in various well-balanced activities, in my opinion, children who use the computer daily are actually developing a critical skill for future success. The bases for my views are personal, academic, and professional. From a personal point of view, computers are an invaluable resource to help young people explore the world around them. For example, children who use Internet to satisfy their curiosity about diverse topics are already becoming independent learners. No child with a computer is ever bored! By starting early in their lives, children feel totally at ease around computers; they are also able to take advantage of the wide range of services computers provide. From an academic viewpoint, children have no choice but to master this technological invention. For instance, when I was in university, students brought their laptops to class to take notes, do research and exchange information. They wrote assignments, created presentations and developed databases. Children who build early confidence and experience in these abilities are at a distinct advantage over those who have not. From a professional perspective, the computer has found a permanent place in the workplace. Today, employers still pay to provide computer training to their employees. Tomorrow, corporations will expect prospective job applicants to already possess these critical job skills. Consequently, parents who encourage their child to use the computer for a reasonable period of time daily are in fact investing in the child's future career. In conclusion, there is no doubt that the computer as a technological too l is here to stay. The sooner children become computer-literate, the better for many aspects of their future lives.
